Pizza Delivery at Pure Jeevan s home ! Yep, and it s not raw pizza, either. Maybe sometime in the not-so-distant future we ll be able to order delicious, life-giving raw pizzas for delivery to our home, but that time hasn t come. Even if it was possible today, I have a feeling we d still be ordering the greasy pizza that s going to be arriving here later today.

You see, today is KDcat s 14th birthday. As much as she knows about health, nutrition, and the harms of consuming dairy, she has made a decision that she wants to order a pizza for her birthday and have it delivered. When she told me of her birthday wish, a very big part of me wanted to review how unhealthy such food is, but the other part didn t want to bring guilt to her decision of eating pizza on her birthday. I know she completely understands about foods and health, especially about how harmful dairy can be for her body. She was determined to have pizza, so I d rather she enjoy it than to eat while feeling guilty about it the entire time.

So, pizza delivery it shall be. I already know she ll be feeling less than well later this evening and most of tomorrow. I don t like to see her doing this to herself, but it s so very important that she be allowed to make her own decisions. By making her own choices, she learns that she is largely responsible for the outcome of her decisions. It s not always easy seeing our children make unwise choices, but it s healthier for them to learn that way a lot of times. I have a feeling there will be some intense learning going on this evening once the tummy ache arrives.

BTW, what will Jim and I be eating during this meal We're going to make some raw pizzas! To do this, we'll start with a slice of raw seed bread from Love Force, coat it with a raw marinara sauce, possibly add some nice pesto sauce, add some veggie toppings, and finish it off with some raw parmesan "cheese" (made by simply blending up some Brazil nuts in the Vitamix). We've made raw pizza many times in the past. Here's one blog entry with a picture from a few years back! Here's another pic from years ago (links to our Flickr account) of pizza from the Raw Food Real World cookbook. We also made "pizzas" a few times by using tomato rounds as crusts instead of raw breads.

Happy Birthday KDcat!!!

Happy birthday KDcat! Enjoy the day! (and the pizza :))

(I've read that taste receptors change as you get older -- I swear, up until about 17 or 18, I thought pizza tasted like the food of the gods. I also thought vegetables had no taste. My family rarely had pizza (good thing!) but tasting it (at 24) several months ago, I just wondered how on earth I could have loved the taste back then. :) So now, that raw pizza sounds awesome, with extra veggies! :))

In celebration of You-Happy Happy Birthday K-Dcat. I hope your pizza is as delightfully delicious as you remember it. I have not eaten pizza for a long long long time, so to me it still seems like a food for the gods. And just in case your pizza no longer tastes so good, I am sure Mom and Dad would not be disappointed if you asked for some of their pizza.

Have fun and enjoy your special day.

Arianna Rose made me a pizza last week. Her crust that was nearly comparable to the real thing!!! No buckwheat either. The cheeze sauce tasted like riccotta and I had guilt free leftovers for breakfast at the faerie festival!

Happy Birthday KDcat! (((hugs)))

We all enjoyed our pizzas--KDcat sampled the raw pizza next to her cooked one and proclaimed that it tasted BETTER than the cooked pizza. Then she took some of the raw pesto sauce and added to her cooked pizza and said it was better. ;-)

She had a lovely birthday and LOVED reading all the birthday wishes here, on Twitter, and on Facebook from our Pure Jeevan family!

Thanks!

Lots of love to you,

Wendi
